Staatsolie
Company profile
Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V., the State Oil Company of Suriname, was founded on December 13, 1980, as a limited liability company under Surinamese Law. The Republic of Suriname is the sole shareholder. Staatsolie has the mining rights to explore for and produce hydrocarbons in Suriname. It can exercise this right as an independent operator or in cooperation with other oil companies. The initial idea was to have Staatsolie as an advisory body to the government, with the principal task of monitoring the activities of oil companies performing petroleum activities in Suriname. However, in its drive to contribute more to the Surinamese economy, Staatsolie took the development of earlier made onshore discoveries into its own hands. With the inauguration of the refinery in 1997, it became an integrated petroleum company that now employs 640 people. The turnover of more than a hundred million US dollars makes Staatsolie a sizable contributor to the economy of Suriname.
Services
Delivery & Transport
Local deliveries are made by tanker trucks or river barges. We currently make C.I.F. deliveries to our Caribbean customers with oil tankers varying from 6,000 DWT to 12,000 DWT.
Bunker Services
Staatsolie can deliver several grades of high quality, low-vanadium and low-sulphur bunker fuels like Marine Gasoil, IFO 120, IFO 180, Bunker C, and No.6 Fuel Oil.
These bunker fuels are some of the best available in the Caribbean. Deliveries of bunkers are made by tanker trucks, river barge or via Staatsolie's berth at the refinery near Paramaribo. We can deliver bunkers to all vessels visiting Suriname's major ports.
Products
Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. Is able to produce fuel oils to customer specifications. The following products are available: Crude Oil, Diesel Oil, HVGO, Fuel Oils and Bitumen.
We are capable of providing transportation for our products to customers in the Caribbean and we are specialized in deliveries of small cargoes to shallow water ports.
Products: crude
Staatsolie produces the Saramacca Crude from the Tambaredjo Oilfield, which is owned and operated by Staatsolie. The oilfield is situated in the District of Saramacca, about 55-km west of Paramaribo. By the end of 2000, daily production reached 12,500 barrels per day. Saramacca Crude is transported via a 55-km high-pressure pipeline from the production facilities to the storage and distribution facilities at the refinery, located near Paramaribo.
Staatsolie's refinery and refineries in the Caribbean are using Saramacca Crude as feedstock.

Products: diesel
Staatsolie Diesel is used in every industrial sector in Suriname. Staatsolie Diesel is a high lubricity fuel and has a low sulphur content.
The local power generating company, river barges and international sea-going vessels currently use Staatsolie Diesel. Trawlers and other customers like farmers, gold miners and transport companies are all using Staatsolie Diesel in their engines, generators and equipment.

This low-sulphur product is an excellent feedstock for catalytic cracking units for conversion into gasoline and diesel. This product can also be used as intermediate fuel oil for medium and slow speed engines.
Staatsolie ships this product to refineries and power companies in the Eastern region.

Staatsolie produces various grades of low-sulphur and low-vanadium Fuel Oils. These products are used in engines, boilers and for other industrial applications.
The fuel oils are delivered to several countries in the Caribbean. Major industries in Suriname, Guyana, Antigua and Barbados have used Fuel Oils produced by Staatsolie for their power generation.

Staatsolie Bitumen complies with all international specifications and standards. Staatsolie can deliver bitumen with a penetration of 40 to 150.
The Bitumen is suitable for use on roads, airports, bridges, parkinglots, etc. Bitumen produced by Staatsolie has been used in all major paving projects in Suriname.
